Life’s challenges can leave you feeling lost, uncertain, or overwhelmed. Your experiences—whether spoken or unspoken—hold meaning and deserve to be heard. Counselling provides a space to explore these experiences, find clarity, and reconnect with yourself.

I am a medical doctor who spent over 20 years as a Vascular Surgeon, witnessing firsthand the emotional toll of illness, trauma, aging, and loss—not only on those suffering but also on their families, friends, and caregivers. I understand how caring for others, while deeply meaningful, can blur perspective, strain relationships, and leave you questioning your sense of self.

My own life journey has taken many paths: surgical training, higher-degree medical research, years working in country hospitals, time spent at home as a father, and ongoing work in pastoral care. Along the way, I encountered both grief and joy, uncertainty and acceptance, love and loss. For me, our complex health care with its focused expertise often missed something profound. I completed a Master of Counselling to help me better address what was lacking.

I remain registered as a prescribed medical practitioner with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and have been approved by the General Practice Mental Health Standards Committee and Medicare to provide Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS). Medicare rebates for my services may be available when you are referred under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

My focus and interest are in providing you with counselling. I am committed to supporting individuals through a person-centred and empathetic approach and borrow from a variety of evidence-based methods. This allows us to explore your stories—at your pace, in your own words, in a way that matters to you. I offer support in a range of areas, including:

  • Grief & Loss – Navigating the pain of losing a loved one, career, identity, or sense of purpose.

  • Illness-Related Trauma – Coping with the emotional impact of disease, aging, and medical experiences.

  • Health Carer Trauma & Burnout – Supporting those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

  • Identity Challenges – Exploring shifts in personal, social, or professional identity.

  • Boarding School Trauma – Understanding the lasting impact of early experiences.

  • Living with Error – Coping with professional or personal mistakes and their emotional toll.
